New Record, "Right On Time" out now!

I’m very excited to announce the release of my third record, “Right On Time”!

I’m calling this record “Right On Time” due to the fact that its release is a few years late. I had to recalibrate my life a bit, and fall in love with music again, but everything worked out the way it should, and I’m finally ready to put this one out into the world.

I’m very proud of this record. We did basic tracking the old school way (live to tape complete with 7am rehearsals - the only time working musicians are totally free), and for me, it feels just as good to listen to as it did the first day I heard it back. There’s some single takes in there, a whole lot of feel, and the perfect imperfection that comes with being human. It speeds up and slows down, gets loud and then goes soft, and features a whole lot more electric guitar than any other record I’ve ever made.

I really wanted to make a rock record this time around, and I think we got there. I tend to gravitate towards the singer-songwriter driven rock and roll of the 70s, and there’s plenty of that along with sprinkles of country and early power pop. The final track “Maybe Someday” started its life as a finger picking pattern that quickly turned into a full band arrangement, and is one of the more unique moments of my songwriting catalog.

I hope you sit with it, enjoy it, and I hope it makes you feel something. That’s all I’ve ever wanted, and all I could ever ask for.

Love,
Colton

New Single, "I Don't Believe" Out 6/24

“I Don’t Believe” started its life on my bed at about 3 in the morning 4 years ago.

I tend to gravitate towards the singer-songwriter driven rock and roll of the 70s, and this song is my love letter to that kind of big, cinematic sound.

I made a conscious effort to make a rock record this time around, and in doing so, traded acoustic guitars for electrics on almost every tune.

We recorded the basic tracks live to tape, and you’ll hear the imperfections of a live band, but also the energy of one. The energy is what counts; that’s what makes you feel something.

The forthcoming record this song is a part of is called “Right On Time”, and that’s mainly because its release is way late. I just wasn’t in the right headspace to put it out at the time when we completed it.

I had to fall in love with music again, and remember why I do this in the first place.

There’ll be more announcements this summer. Until then, give the track a spin and be well.
